Pestcide workshop will address new blight

Cooperative Extension is hosting a Commercial Landscape/Pesticide Workshop on March 27, 9-11 a.m., at the Cooperative Extension Office, Old Concord Road in Salisbury.
The workshop will focus on a new boxwood blight that has been found in a small area of North Carolina. Stephen Greer, extension horticulture agent in Forsyth County, will present information on identification and management of this newly introduced boxwood disease.
Eddie Nunn, pesticide inspector with the N.C. Department of Agriculture, will present information on Case Studies and Frequently Asked Questions about Commercial Pesticide Licenses.
The agenda for the workshop:
• 9 a.m. — Pesticide Case Studies and Frequently Asked Questions, Eddie Nunn, N.C. Department of Agriculture, and Darrell Blackwelder, Rowan County extension director, N.C. Cooperative Extension Service.
• 10 a.m. —Boxwood Blight-Update on Identification and Management, Stephen Greer, extension agent, N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, Forsyth County.
Two hours pesticide recertification credits have been approved for the following subclasses: (L) Ornamental & Turf, (D) Dealer, (N) Demonstration & Research, (O) Ag Pest – Plant (X) Private.
This workshop is especially important to those in the landscape and nursery industry.
