CHINA GROVE — Carson got dynamic pitching from Daxton Savage and Maverick Walters in Friday’s 4-1 win against West Rowan.

Carson had five hits, while the Falcons had four.

Savage got the win, striking out eight and allowing an unearned run in four innings. Walters saved it, striking out five in three innings.

‘That’s 13 strikeouts,” Carson coach Kyle Bridges said. “That’s a testament to pitching coach Jesse Park. It’s a good thing to have Jesse as a best friend.”

Park is a former college coach, He and Bridges will be coaching for the South Charlotte Panthers this summer.

Carson (4-0, 4-0) didn’t hit a lot in the South Piedmont Conference game, but was able to string together enough good at-bats for a fourth-run fourth.

Tommy “TJ” Harris had the key hit, a two-run single. Walters had two hits. Caden Lewis drove in a run. Jayven Parks hit two balls hard, but West center fielder Maddox Maddox ran down a line drive near the fence.

West (1-3, 0-3) is off to an unexpectedly slow start. The bats have been quiet for the Falcons.
