High school basketball: NCBCA All-District teams announced

The North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association has announced the all-district teams.

There are first, second and third all-district teams for each of 12 districts.

Nominations and voting are done only by schools that are NCBCA members.

The Rowan schools are part of District 11, which also includes Ashe, Alexander, Alleghany, Caldwell, Davie, Iredell, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties.

Salisbury senior Juke Harris led the voting for District 11 and was named District 11 Player of the Year for the second time.

West Rowan senior Will Givens Jr. and Carson freshman CP Perry were named to the third team.

Central Cabarrus is in District 9, where the competition includes the Mecklenburg schools. Central coach Jim Baker was named District Coach of the Year.

Central’s Chase Daniel and Carson Daniel made second team all-district, while DJ Kent made the third team.

West Rowan senior Lauren Arnold and Salisbury senior MaKayla Noble made the second team for District 11 girls.

All-State teams will be made up of players who made all-district teams. Those teams will be announced after the state championships.

Third Team — Will Givens (West Rowan); C.P. Perry (Carson); Robert Magner (Pine Lake Prep); Jordan Patterson (West Caldwell);  Braxton Davis (East Surry)

Girls

Player of the Year — Kate Sears, Watauga

Coach of the Year — Steven Phillips, North Wilkes
