SALISBURY — Toyota will officially unveil a new race car May 22 at the company’s engineering facility in Salisbury.
Toyota Racing Development, located at 1125 Competition Drive, will host a private open house for media to reveal the car and allow tours of the facility. The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Camry is being developed jointly between the Salisbury facility and Toyota Racing Development’s main facility in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Toyota secretly unveiled a prototype of the car Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda and driver Kyle Busch each took the vehicle — camouflaged with a zebra-striped paint scheme — for a few laps about an hour before the final practice for the Daytona 500.
