Partners in Learning hosts Special Needs Mini-Conference

SALISBURY — Partners In Learning is presenting its Special Needs Mini-Conference, a comprehensive event designed to equip educators, families and caregivers with the knowledge and resources to support individuals with special needs.

The conference, which will be held on April 13, from 9 a.m.-noon at Partners In Learning at The Woods, is free for the community and tailored for parents and professionals. It will also include the Cradle to Career Transition Fair, hosted by Rowan Innovative Approaches.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to host the conference in our facility and bring awareness and support for families and professionals that are passionate about serving and caring for people with special needs,” Clinical Director Cassie Karriker said.

Executive Director Norma Honeycutt added, “At Partners In Learning, we understand the unique challenges and triumphs that come with supporting individuals with special needs. This mini-conference is our commitment to fostering a more inclusive community by providing valuable tools and strategies for success.” 

The conference will feature a range of engaging presentations led by experts in the field of special needs education. Attendees can expect to:

This year’s lineup features a range of presenters, each bringing expertise and experiences to the table. Parents or caregivers will provide invaluable perspectives on raising a child with special needs and advocating for their inclusion and well-being.

In addition to the panelists, Dr. Ashley Deaton, owner of One Step At A Time Therapy, founder of Deaton Therapeutics, and creator of the Skill Builder Spoon will be presenting. Deaton’s expertise spans across diverse diagnoses, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorders.

She is a recognized leader in bridging access gaps and implementing impactful solutions for families of children with disabilities. Deaton will be presenting strategies to promote regulation in everyday life.

Honeycutt will be the final presenter. Honeycutt leverages her more than 45 years of experience in child and family services to champion parent education. Recognized as a leading expert, she drives impactful programs and initiatives that empower families and ensure children can thrive. She will present building positive behaviors in the Love and Logic Way.
