Update: Authorities capture escaped convict in Rowan

Update: Ronald Pitt was captured at 9:45 p.m. Monday by fugitive officers from the Division of Adult Correction. Officers found Pritt in woods less than a mile from Piedmont Correctional Institution.
He will face charges for felony escape.
SALISBURY — Authorities are searching for a inmate who escaped from Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury Monday.
According to the Department of Corrections, Ronald Pritt, 35, was serving a three-year sentence for habitual drunk driving when he disappeared.
A minimum-custody prisoner, Pritt was working as a groundskeeper outside the fence on prison property. DOC officials said he went missing about 2:30 p.m.
He was expected to be released in July.
Pritt has been convicted of 36 charges in Rowan and Cabarrus counties over a 20-year period.
Anyone with information on Pritt’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or local law enforcement.
