SALISBURY — Deputies arrested a China Grove woman after they said her unlicensed husband drove her around town as she smoked marijuana.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Debra Koontz and her husband Anthony were stopped on Miller Road about 9 p.m.
Deputies said the Chevrolet truck smelled strongly of marijuana and Debra Koontz told officers she had smoked marijuana in the vehicle, but threw it out of the window.
After searching the truck, deputies found multiple types of prescription pills in a prescription bottle with her name on it.
Officers also found a small marijuana cigarette in her possession.
Debra Koontz was charged with misdemeanor possession of schedule III substance, possession of schedule IV and possession of marijuana.
She was released after posting a $500 bond.
