Easter baseball roundup …
GRANITE QUARRY — East Rowan’s baseball team is No. 1 in the 3A West RPI rankings and won again on Saturday in the Spring Break Tournament at Staton Field.
The Mustangs beat Mooresville 12-5.
Isaiah Osterhus and Logan Dyer pitched three innings each, and Krys Hernandez finished up.
East scored five runs in the first inning. After Mooresville fought back to 5-4, the Mustangs scored six in the fifth to put the game away.
Sam Blackwelder had three RBIs for East (12-1). Harrison Ailshie went 2-for-2 with two doubles. Braden Shive, Cobb Hightower and Nate Hayworth had two hits each.
Hightower is batting .514 with 24 runs scored, while Shive is batting .467.
Mooresville is 1-12.

GRANITE QUARRY — Maddox Moore pitched five shutout innings with seven strikeouts as West Rowan, ranked 10th in 3A RPI, handled Northwest Guilford, a strong 4A, 8-2.
Luke Ponczka pitched two innings.
Eli Graham had three hits and three RBIs for the surging Falcons (9-3). Brice Knox had three hits. Ponczka had two RBIs, and Cole Blevins had two more hits. Blevins had three hits against Mooresville on Friday and has lifted hid batting average to .368.
Northwest Guilford is 9-2.

GRANITE QUARRY — Jayven Parks had two of Carson’s four hits in a 3-0 loss to South Iredell on Saturday.
South Iredell pitcher Luke Snell shut down Carson (6-6) for six innings.
• Carson lost to Northwest Guilford in eight innings, 6-5, on Friday.
Caden Lewis and Daxton Savage had three hits each. Corbin Hales, Nick Ayash and Cameron Williamson had two hits.
Gage Trexler pitched six innings and gave the Cougars a chance. Hales took the loss in relief.

KANNAPOLIS — Salisbury didn’t have many highlights in Saturday’s 10-0 Easter tournament loss to Central Cabarrus.
Freshman Kitt Stafford held the Hornets to three hits and struck out five.
Keyen Erbe had four RBIs for the Vikings (2-9), who took advantage of 10 walks.
Evan Koontz barreled three hard-hit balls for the Hornets (3-7), but only had one hit to show for it.
Mike Geter and Cole Price were bright spots as relief pitchers.
Salisbury will play Northwest Cabarrus in the seventh-place game on Monday morning at A.L. Brown.

KANNAPOLIS — South Rowan won 4-0 against Concord on Friday in the F&M Bank Easter Tournament,
Logan Ballard (five innings) and Colton Helms combined on the shutout.
Ballard, James Ritchie, Corbin Cross and Brett Morris had RBIs for the Raiders.
• South won 9-2 against West Cabarrus in a semifinal game played on Saturday.
All eight teams had losing records entering the tournament, but South (6-6) has a chance to exit with a winning record if the Raiders can beat A.L. Brown (5-7) in the 7 p.m. championship game at Atrium Health Ballpark on Monday.
The Wonders have beaten Salisbury and Robinson.
