High school softball roundup: Falcons win again; Peeler homers in Salisbury loss

MOUNT ULLA — Arabelle Shulenberger pitched a one-hitter to lead West Rowan to a 10-0 South Piedmont Conference victory against Carson on Tuesday.

Shulenberger struck out seven and walked one in the five-inning game.

Shulenberger also helped out West’s offense with two hits. She had a double and two RBIs.

Lucy Shelton had a double and two RBIs. EA Nance had two RBIs. Reese Poole had two hits. She had a triple and scored twice.

Ella Doby had two hits and scored two runs. Riley Haggas scored two.

The Falcons (8-4, 6-1) are in third place in the SPC. West plays league-leader East Rowan on Wednesday.

Madison Clark had a double for Carson’s only hit. Clark and Caylee Snow did the pitching for the Cougars (1-11, 1-7).

CONCORD — Freshmen Anamaria Shuman and Alexa Hooks led Concord to an 11-5 non-conference win against Salisbury on Tuesday.

Shuman homered and drove in five runs for the Spiders (4-7), while Hooks was in the circle and struck out 10 Hornets.

Concord settled it with a seven-run third inning.

Addie Myers had three hits for Salisbury (3-6). Katie Peeler had a homer and a double. Tijah Sims had a double.

Allie Peeler and Teasia Ellis had RBIs.

Katie Peeler struck out six.

Salisbury has a chance to bounce back on Wednesday with a Central Carolina Conference doubleheader against North Rowan.
