MOUNT AIRY — Salisbury won 5-4 at Mount Airy on Thursday.

“Huge win for us,” said Salisbury coach Roarke Burton. “They are, by far, the best team we’ll play in the regular season. Mount Airy has an awesome team, and I’m so excited for my guys to have come up with the win tonight. Soyer Cornelison and Reid Hlavacek deserve special recognition for their effort. Soyer was able to come back from a set down and win at No. 6 singles in a crucial third set tiebreaker, and Reid played the best singles match I have ever seen him play to knock off Mount Airy’s number 3.

In singles, the Hornets won at 2 (AJ Jarrell), 3 (Hlavacek) and 6 (Cornelison).

Gray Davis/Cornelison and Bryant Davis/Hlavacek won in doubles.

Salisbury (10-1) hadn’t played since an 8-1 loss to North Stanly on March 28. Salisbury’s didn’t have Jarrell for that match.

The next match for Salisbury is at South Davidson on Monday.
