SALISBURY — Rowan Helping Ministries’ largest yearly fundraising event, “Pass the Plate,” was held on Saturday, April 6, at the F&M Trolley Barn. The event was a resounding success, raising over $130,000 which will help fund the organization’s programs and services.  

With over 220 guests in attendance, including Rowan Helping Ministries’ staff, board members, volunteers and donors, the event included live music by the Legacy Motown Revue, and silent auction and raffle items donated by local businesses. 

“We are overwhelmed by the incredible generosity and support of our community at this year’s “Pass the Plate” event. Their donations and enthusiasm will allow us to continue providing critical services and support to those in need throughout Rowan County,” said Executive Director Kyna Grubb.  

The “Pass the Plate” fundraiser event was planned by volunteers, including committee chair  Melissa Yates, Janet Haynes, Jen Fogt and Karen Montgomery. 

The annual “Pass the Plate” event was first held in 2007 and raised $50,000 during its inaugural year. The fundraiser has been held every year since, except 2020, when it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s presenting sponsors for the event were Food Lion FEEDS, Missie and Greg Alcorn, and Alice and Fred Stanback.  

For over 37 years, Rowan Helping Ministries has been providing food, temporary shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, supportive services, and crisis assistance to those in need in Rowan County.
