SALISBURY — Catawba College’s Shuford School of Performing Arts will present The Catawba Singers in their final concert of the 2023-24 academic year on Sunday, April 21, at 4 p.m. in the Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on the campus of Catawba College. The hour-long concert is free and open to the public.
“Our Song IX” will feature selections chosen by the ensemble members. This spring concert tradition has been an annual favorite of audience and ensemble members alike.
Selections from the classical repertoire, gospel and spirituals, as well as pieces from the Top 40 and Broadway, will be included in the concert. Additionally, several selections have been written and arranged for the Catawba Singers by the members themselves.
A Senior Salute will feature those graduating members of the ensemble in solo numbers.
The Catawba Singers are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, Dean of the Shuford School of Performing Arts. The concert will be accompanied by Susan Trivette, Catawba’s collaborative pianist.
Additional ensemble support will be provided by student musicians at Catawba College.
