SALISBURY — Deputies are investigating after 13 motorcycles were stolen from a racing company on Monday.
Deputies initially responded to Phoenix Racing, located at 1191 Speedway Boulevard, in reference to a breaking and entering that had occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, they were shown security video that showed a group of men break into the building through a glass front door, said Captain Mark McDaniel, a spokesperson for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
The men then allegedly proceeded to take the 13 motorcycles out through the front door and load them all into a U-Haul parked nearby before driving away.
The incident report lists 13 Honda motorcycles as the stolen property, each valued at an estimated $20,000. McDaniel said that the deputies, with the assistance of the victim, were able to verify the serial numbers of some of the bikes and enter them as stolen vehicles in the National Crime Information Center.
McDaniel said that no suspects have been identified yet but deputies are continuing to actively investigate the incident.
