Thanks to local businesses for supporting volunteer efforts
I wanted to write and tell all the local business owners and managers in Rowan thank you for posting fundraising and event flyers for non-profit and charitable groups in your stores, restaurants and public spaces. It means a lot and is appreciated. I look at it as a “trade off.” If we, local people, support local businesses with our dollars and patronage, it’s nice that they reciprocate and help the hearts and souls of our community, when asked. We know you want to keep your businesses neat, and we respect that, but please try to help when a volunteer approaches you to post a flyer about an event. Big chain stores won’t put a flyer in their main front windows where it can be seen. Whether it’s assisting by advertising for a group that helps animals through a yard sale, or promoting a church’s blood drive, we have gratitude to local businesses for their assistance and remember what you do. We support you back!

Mecklenburg sheriff responsible for failing jail inspections
Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden seems to be in a tizzy over the jails in which he is responsible for, which have failed multiple inspections. He claims to be unaware of new rules regarding inspections and feels he and the jails are being targeted.
Bottom line, Sheriff McFadden, is you have failed. Period. If you had actually been doing your job all along, the inspections would not be an issue. Now that you’ve been exposed, you want to deflect. Typical Democrat politician. You want some cheese to go with that whine?
