HARTSVILLE, S.C. — Catawba’s softball team split a high-scoring South Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Coker on Saturday.

Catawba won 10-8, with Riley Yucker, Kary Hales and Brianna Gallagher getting three hits each, and lost 12-9 despite a homer by Gallagher.

The split to close the regular season was enough to get the Indians into the eight-team conference tournament.

Catawba (23-25, 11-13) tied for sixth with Newberry and Lincoln Memorial, but tiebreakers put the Indians as the No. 8 seed for the event.

That means Catawba will play SAC champ Wingate (44-7, 22-2) in the first round.
