High school girls soccer roundup: Big CCC week for Hornets

Salisbury’s girls soccer team plays twice this week, as the Hornets look to stay in second place in the Central Carolina Conference and will try to improve their RPI ranking for the state playoffs.
The Hornets (8-3-1, 6-2) are currently 14th in the 2A West RPI rankings. They’ll play at South Davidson on Monday and will host East Davidson on Wednesday.
North Rowan (0-15, 0-8) had four games left, two home and two road, and is still seeking its first win.

None of the Rowan teams in the South Piedmont Conference are assured of making the 3A state playoffs.
South Rowan (8-5, 7-4 and 31st in the 3A West RPI rankings) and West Rowan (5-8, 4-7 and 37th) have the best chance, so their meeting on Tuesday will be a big one.
Carson (1-12-1, 1-9) got its first win of the season on Friday by beating Concord 1-0 and takes on East Rowan (6-11, 3-7) on Tuesday.
South Rowan lost 10-1 on Friday to Northwest Cabarrus, as Megan Story scored four goals for the Trojans.
Seven different girls scored for Lake Norman Charter in Friday’s 9-0 win against West Rowan. It was 6-0 at halftime.
Central Cabarrus scored nine goals by halftime to wrap up an early win against East Rowan. Scarlett Davis had a hat trick for the Vikings. Piper Moretz had to make three saves for the shutout.
