BANNER ELK – Lees-McRae pitcher Lonna Addison (Carson) concluded a stellar freshman season on Thursday with 12 strikeouts and no walks in an extra-inning loss to Belmont Abbey in a tournament play-in game.

Addison (14-12) handled most of the pitching for an 18-23 team. She threw 18 complete games, saved three games and helped out offensively with four home runs.

She put up some outstanding strikeout numbers. She fanned 246 batters. That total ranks third nationally in Division II. She struck out 9.7 batters per seven innings, a figure that is in the top 10 nationally.

Addison was named to the All-Carolinas Conference team.
