SALISBURY — A report of a shooting in Salisbury on Wednesday led to concealed weapons charges for a Salisbury woman after police stopped a vehicle that was reported as being involved.
Police responded to a home in the 1000 block of East Lafayette Street after a neighbor called and said that they had witnessed a shooting there at approximately 4:25 p.m., said Major Justin Crews, public information officer for the Salisbury Police Department. That neighbor reported to officers that a blue sedan had been involved in the shooting.
An officer located that sedan approximately 10 minutes later near the intersection of West Innes and Church streets, according to police reports. The officer then followed the vehicle until after they passed the intersection, at which point he initiated a traffic stop, said Crews.
Crews said that officers searched the vehicle. Police reports list a SCCY CPX-1 9 mm handgun as evidence that was recovered from the vehicle.
Garrietta Deshawn Patterson, 42, was charged with misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons. Patterson was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $1,500 bond by Magistrate Duffel.
The department is continuing to investigate the incident to determine if Patterson or any of the other occupants of the car were involved in the shooting.
