SALISBURY — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Director of Nursing Programs Dr. Emily Fink has been appointed to serve on the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Board of Commissioners through 2025.
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice and the public by providing specialized accreditation standards for all levels of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs.
In this role, Fink will help to oversee and direct the affairs of the ACEN according to the bylaws.
“It is an honor to serve on the ACEN Board of Commissioners representing associate degree nursing programs across the country,” Fink said. “National nursing program accreditation is vital to ensuring the public that graduates are prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to the profession of nursing.”
Fink has participated as a site visitor for the ACEN since 2019. She has been employed at Rowan-Cabarrus for 21 years and has served as nursing program director since 2017, overseeing ACEN-accredited associate degree and licensed practical nursing programs.
As the leading authority in nursing education accreditation in the United States and internationally, the ACEN is a supportive partner in strengthening the quality of nursing education and transition-to-practice programs. The organization is governed by a 17-member Board of Commissioners elected by the representatives of ACEN-accredited nursing programs.
“The college is fortunate to have Dr. Emily Fink at the helm of our successful nursing programs, and the ACEN could not have chosen a more capable and passionate professional to serve on its board,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus.
