Post office to help stamp out hunger

On Saturday, May 11, the Salisbury USPS office will hold our 32nd annual Stamp Out Hunter Food Drive. This is part of the Nationwide food drive conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers with the support of the U.S. Postal Service and it is the largest one-day food drive in the U.S.A.

The Salisbury USPS Office is joined by Rowan County United Way, Rowan Helping Ministries and the Salvation Army of Rowan County to collect food and dry goods to stock up our local food pantries for the summer. These donations provide for the neediest and most vulnerable in our community, including children living in poverty, the elderly, domestic abuse victims, those laid off from work, those struggling with medical bills or serious injury and many more.

If you’ve ever read a heartbreaking story of adversity in the Salisbury Post and wished there was some way to help, now is your opportunity.

Leave a donation of canned/dry goods by your mailbox on Saturday, May 11, for your letter carrier to pick up, or you can bring your donation to the Salisbury USPS office (605 E. Innes St.) before May 11 or even the week after. All donations stay here in Salisbury and Rowan County.
