Congressman questioned on corporate tax rate

I recently asked Congressman Dan Bishop a simple question: “Can you explain to me why you think it is fair that three large energy companies, Exxon-Mobil, Chevron and Shell, in the most recent reporting period paid an aggregate total tax rate of just 4.2% while a solidly middle-class couple like my wife and I paid 17.6%?” In response I received a 341-word reply that went on about government spending and keeping tax rates low but in no way answered my question. Why do we elect people who won’t answer their constituents’ questions and treat them like they are too stupid to understand they are being patronized?

Did Stein use police shooting for campaign?

Unfortunately, at the presser hosted by CMPD on April 30 providing an update on the tragedy the day before, one individual used it as a campaign stop.

Attorney General Josh Stein didn’t attend similar events across the state when other officers have been killed. It didn’t take a Philly lawyer to figure out his appearance in Charlotte, and listening to his brief remarks,  he was here primarily for face time before cameras in the largest city to boost his campaign for governor. How shameful, politically speaking, he would stoop this low and show his desperation to win in November.

As a citizen and voter, I’m appalled and disgusted with Stein for grandstanding. I can only imagine how the officers’ families and friends must feel.
