SALISBURY — A suspicious person report led to a police chase in Salisbury that ended in a crash Sunday morning.
Police officers were called to the Colonial Village Apartments, located off of West D Avenue, in reference to multiple males wearing hoodies with the hoods up and face masks at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, said Sergeant Justin Crotty, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department. When an officer arrived on scene, he reportedly noticed a silver Kia passenger vehicle on the road and a Nissan passenger vehicle parked nearby.
The officer attempted to stop the Kia, at which point, the driver of the Kia allegedly refused to stop and fled towards South Main Street.
The chase continued onto Henderson Grove Church Road, where the Kia crashed near the Peach Orchard Road intersection, said Crotty. Three males reportedly got out of the car at that point and ran into the nearby woods. Officers attempted to track the men, with Rockwell Rural Fire Department bringing out a thermal imaging drone in order to assist, said Crotty.
Officers were unable to find the three men.
An investigation into the Kia and the Nissan discovered they had been reported stolen from a home on Sunset Drive. The vehicles were processed and returned to the owners, said Crotty.
