SALISBURY— On May 18, to coincide with Armed Forces Day, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Patriots Flag Concourse Memorial at City Park at 10 a.m. “in honor, respect, and gratitude for our Rowan County veterans,” Beverly Leonard said.
One wreath will be laid at the World War I and II Memorial Wall and one at the Vietnam War Memorial Wall.
Leonard said the Pledge of Allegiance will be recited as well as a three-volley salute and a performance of “Taps” will occur during the ceremony on Saturday morning.
Chaplain Ken Reynolds, Ron Stewart with Bugles Across America, Sergeant Smith and the East Rowan High School JROTC, the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard, and veterans Hercules and Dolores Shannon will all be participating in the ceremony.
Seating will not be available due to the actual wreath laying not taking place in one single location.
