The Teen Summer Reading Program at Rowan Public Library is almost here! Teens 11-17 can combat the “Summer Slide” by logging reading hours in person at any RPL location or on ReadSquared at bit.ly/RPLR2. Reading hours can be logged all the way to July 27, but for teens to qualify for raffle tickets and prizes, their hours must be entered by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.
There are so many fun and exciting programs happening this summer, including map coasters, paracord bracelets and the popular Human Battleship; play the classic strategic board game, but life-size! Coming especially to teens is a program in partnership with Rowan Wild from Dan Nicholas Park. Teens can join us for Dangers of the Wild, where we will learn about poisonous plants and venomous animals of North Carolina. Registration for this program is required at bit.ly/RPLWildDangers2024.
Teens can celebrate the end of Summer Reading by joining their peers at the National Teen Lock In on July 26 at RPL Headquarters in Salisbury. From 6:30-9:30 p.m., there will be games, crafts, food and prizes. Winners will be announced at the National Teen Lock In though they need not be present to claim their prize.
Encouraging teens and young adults to continue reading and learning for the entire summer, there are incentive prizes at every RPL location. For every 10 hours of reading, you get to pick between several small prizes including stickers, compasses, rubber duckies and fidget buttons. There will also be incentive prizes for every teen program attended.
