SALISBURY — The Human Relations Commission (HRC) will host a public safety roundtable where residents and stakeholders can share their thoughts about collaborative approaches to safety and crime prevention in the Salisbury community.

“Express, Educate and Connect for a Safer Salisbury,” a joint effort between the HRC, Police Chief’s Advisory Board, local clergy and the Salisbury Youth Council, will be held Thursday, June 6, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hood Theological Seminary Aymer Center, 1810 Lutheran Synod Dr. Former Salisbury Deputy Police Chief and current Madison, Wisconsin Police Chief Shon Barnes will be the guest speaker.

“The Human Relations Commission is proud to lead this engagement on safety and crime prevention,” said Christina Rary, HRC chair. “As noted in the event name, this is an opportunity for the stakeholders to express their ideas, educate each other about potential causes and solutions, and connect the appropriate people and organizations to move Salisbury forward.”

After Barnes’ address, attendees will be divided into small groups to reflect on specific topics about public safety in Salisbury. WPR Consulting will moderate, while HRC and Chief’s Advisory Board members will lead the discussions.
