Saturday morning fire prompts 2-alarm response

ROCKWELL — A single occupant escaped unharmed from a fiery blaze in Rockwell on Saturday.

Rockwell Fire Chief Tim Linker indicated on the scene that crews were dispatched in reference to a at 1010 Wilcoy Road at 7:36 a.m.

“The single occupant was out of the house when they got here,” Linker said.

The chief mentioned that the majority of the fire was located in the front room, but that extensive smoke and fire damage occurred throughout the home.

“It went to a working fire when they got here which brought the additional alarm for tankers,” Linker said.

He added that crews had a quick knock down. By approximately 8:15 a.m., the crews were mopping up and ensuring all hot spots were extinguished.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist with the occupant.

Other responding agencies included Rockwell Rural (primary district), Faith, Boston Heights, Gold Hill, Union and Granite Quarry fire departments.

The cause of the fire was not readily available at the scene.
