SPENCER — The American Red Cross is currently grappling with an emergency blood shortage following the lowest donor turnout in two decades. This shortage has put a strain on blood and platelet supplies, jeopardizing the ability to carry out essential, life-saving medical procedures.

In response to this need, the First Community Center of Spencer has scheduled a blood drive for Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is located at 215 5th St., Spencer. As an incentive, all donors will receive a $60 reward for their contribution.

Diane Jordan, the event coordinator, emphasized the importance of the drive and urged community members to participate.

“Every donation can make a difference and save lives. We need the community’s support now more than ever,” she said.
