SALISBURY — A man was arrested after police said that he walked onto the UPS property in Salisbury and stole a truck.

Police were initially called to the UPS facility, located at 1301 Old Concord Road, at approximately 9:30 p.m. after a person on-site called and said that a man was in the parking lot checking out vehicles, said Major Justin Crews, public information officer for the Salisbury Police Department. The caller told officers that the man had allegedly looked into other vehicles before finding a UPS truck unlocked and driving off in it.

The caller told the officers that the man had allegedly left the property and driven south on Old Concord Road. Officers then reportedly put out a BOLO notice for the stolen truck.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the stolen truck approximately an hour later on Lane Street, on one of the round-abouts near Interstate 85, and arrested the man, identified as 23-year-old Sebastian Mycle Barnes, said Crews.

Barnes was charged with felony larceny, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony larceny of a motor vehicle and transported to the Rowan County Detention Center by deputies. He is being held without bond, according to online jail records.
