Catawba baseball junior outfielder Dylan Driver (Carson) was named an American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Division II National Gold Glove Award recipient, the organizations jointly announced.

Driver earns the prestigious honor for the second straight season, making him just the third player in the 17-year history of the award to earn a National Gold Glove in consecutive seasons, joining Anderson’s Blake May (2011-12) and UC San Diego’s Vance Albitz (2009-11).

The junior from Faith was excellent yet again in right field this season for the Catawba Indians, making no errors during the regular season, while making 119 putouts and five outfield assists. His miscue in the Division II National Championships was his first since May of his freshman season, a 105-game streak of clean defensive baseball.

Driver joins fellow Catawba softball right fielder Bri Gallagher as a National Gold Glove award recipient, the only baseball/softball duo in the country this season to earn the honor at the same position.

The web-gem specialist helped lead Catawba to another South Atlantic Conference regular season title, its fourth Southeast Region title since 2012 and a number three national ranking in both of the end-of-year ABCA and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls.
