Blotter for June 22: four charged with fighting in intersection

SALISBURY — Four people were charged after police said that the department received numerous calls about the four fighting in the middle of an intersection.
Officers were called to the intersection of North Arlington Street and Margarets Way, beside of Chick-Fil-A, at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday in reference to four homeless individuals fighting in the street, said Sergeant Justin Crotty, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department.
Officers located three of the individuals involved approximately 30 minutes later nearby on East Innes Street, according to police reports. Those three were charged with citations for misdemeanor affray, said Crotty, and have been identified as 32-year-old Katie Alexandra Kerr, 34-year-old Dustin Eric Cauthen and 36-year-old Lewis Howard Hughes. The fourth person believed by police to have been involved in the incident, identified as 34-year-old Adam Fredrick Hellard, was located at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday and served with a criminal summons for misdemeanor affray.
In Salisbury Police Department reports:
- An assault with hands, feet or fists occurred in the 1400 block of South Fulton Street at 5 a.m. on March 19. It was reported on June 17.
- An attempted theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 400 block of South Church Street between noon on June 12 and 12:45 p.m. on June 17.
- A sexual assault occurred at 5:43 p.m. on June 17.
- A burglary by forcible entry occurred in the 1300 block of East Council Street between 8:30 a.m. on March 10 and 12:30 p.m. on June 17. It was reported on June 18.
- Fraud by false pretenses occurred in the 200 block of Bendix Drive at 2:15 p.m. on June 18. The total estimated loss was $5,000, which police reports indicate was a mobile phone.
- A larceny from a motor vehicle occurred in the 2400 block of Statesville Boulevard between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on June 7. It was reported on June 18. The total estimated loss was $1,050.
- Miscellaneous property damage occurred in the 700 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on June 18.
- Fraud by worthless check occurred in the 1700 block of Jake Alexander Boulevard West between 1 p.m. on May 2 and 1 p.m. on May 5. It was reported on June 19.
- A rape occurred between 11 p.m. on June 18 and 5 a.m. on June 19.
- A larceny of a bicycle occurred in the 2300 block of Statesville Boulevard between midnight and 11:30 a.m. on June 19. The total estimated loss was $200.
- A larceny occurred in the 300 block of Faith Road between 6:07 p.m. on June 16 and 6:07 p.m. on June 19. The total estimated loss was $450.
- A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 100 block of Marriott Circle between 12:52 a.m. and 7:16 a.m. on June 20.
- A hit and run causing miscellaneous property damage occurred in the 100 block of Locke Street at 2:35 p.m. on June 20.
- Caitlin Lynn Barringer, 23, was charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance on June 17.
- Jessica Starnes Harris, 40, was charged with misdemeanor larceny on June 17.
- Ruben Benjamin Thompson, 53, was charged with misdemeanor larceny on June 18.
- Jason Leland McCrary, 40, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female on June 20.
In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:
- A sex offender registry violation occurred at Roy Miller Loop between noon on June 14 and 3:51 p.m. on June 19.
- Possession of heroin or opium derivatives and possession or concealment of drug equipment or paraphernalia occurred at West Liberty Street at 6:26 p.m. on June 19.
- A larceny occurred at Woodleaf Road at 9:22 a.m. on June 19.
- A theft of a motor vehicle occurred at Eastside Drive between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 19.
- A burglary by forcible entry occurred at Aggrey Avenue between 5 p.m. and 11:53 p.m. on June 19.
- Justin David Cline, 39, was charged with a misdemeanor resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing on June 19.
- Latanya Denice Hardy, 41, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer on June 19.
- Rodney Duane Mack, 48, was charged with misdemeanor driving while his license was revoked and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia on June 19.
