CHINA GROVE — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Gospel Light Baptist Church after a neighbor reported two 11-year-old boys damaging playground equipment.
When an officer arrived at 435 Concordia Church Road, the boys were gone.
Capt. John Sifford said many of the wooden planks of the playground set had been either broken or destroyed.
A concrete paver that was close by was likely used to cause the damage, Sifford said.
The officer later located the boys’ parents. They made arrangements with the church pastor to repair the damage, which equates to about $200 in building materials.
Sifford said the officer will follow up with the church later.
No charges have been filed at this time.
