SALISBURY — The police are investigating a suspicious death as a homicide after the victim was found with injuries consistent with assault.
Officers were originally called to a home in the 1400 block of Old Concord Road at approximately 7 p.m. on Saturday in reference to a man being found in the home unconscious, said Major Justin Crews, public information officer for the Salisbury Police Department. When they arrived, they reportedly found a 47-year-old man in the home, who was pronounced deceased by EMS and fire department personnel who responded to the home.
Crews said that police are currently investigating the death as a homicide because the man was found to have injuries consistent with an assault, but that the injuries could have also occurred when the man fell or through another physical accident. Police are reportedly waiting on an autopsy report that would rule whether the man died of a homicide or another cause.
The identity of the man has not been publicly released as police work to notify any relatives of the death, Crews said.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
