SALISBURY — The driver of a van that crashed earlier this week is facing assault and battery charges following the incident.
According to Salisbury Police reports, Nicole Cathcart Land, 55, was charged with simple assault-simple assault and battery or affray on Tuesday.
Salisbury officers were initially dispatched to the 600 block of Lafayette Circle, just before 2 a.m. in response to reports of a vehicle that drove into a building.
“When they got there, they found a vehicle that looked like it drove into a wooden fence,” said Sgt. J.D. Crotty, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department.
An officer approached the vehicle, which was a Honda Odyssey. Reports indicate that Land allegedly assaulted the passenger while the vehicle was parked.
Reports further indicate that Land allegedly assaulted the passenger and threatened to kill them both prior to the collision with the fence.
