SALISBURY — A juvenile registered a blood alcohol content reading above the legal limit for an adult following what could only be described as a joy ride.
According to reports from the Salisbury Police Department, an officer observed a Ford F-250 fail to stop at a stop sign on West Horah Street around midnight on July 2.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly ran another stop sign before striking a parked vehicle in the 1400 block of Old Wilkesboro Road. The driver continued down Old Wilkesboro Road before cutting over to Monroe Street and eventually coming to a stop on Wilkins Lane.
The car reportedly belonged to the suspect’s mother and it was unclear if the juvenile had permission to be operating it. Juvenile petitions were taken out for felony fleeing to elude. Citations were issued for multiple hit and runs and stop sign violations in addition to driving while impaired.
Details on the juvenile’s identity were not made public given their age.
