KANNAPOLIS — There will be four races this fall as part of the Run Kannapolis 5K Series and the events kick off this weekend, Aug. 17, with the Cannon Ballers Shooting Stars 5K at 9 a.m. hosted by Cannon Ballers.
Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this unique series featuring the best 5K runs/walks in the city. Each run will be held in downtown Kannapolis and hosted by a nonprofit that benefits from the entry fees. All the runs will take place on a Saturday morning.
This year, the city has added a Bark in the Park event happening in conjunction with the Oct. 5 Wonder Run 5K. Bring your furry friends to run in the Wonder Run 5K with you, then enjoy the Bark in the Park event.
If anyone is looking for a new furry friend to bring to the Bark in the Park, or just home, the Rowan Humane Society, Cabarrus Humane Society, Cabarrus Animal Shelter and Dunkin Doodles will be on hand to assist potential owners in finding a furry friend that is right for them. Other organizations participating include dog boutiques, vets, groomers, trainers and boarders. Owners will receive free doggie goodies corresponding with the city’s Scoop the Poop campaign.
Join the thousands of people who have participated in Run Kannapolis over the years. Run Kannapolis is part of the city of Kannapolis’ Discover a Healthy Life brand. In addition to the awards you receive from the host organization you will receive great prizes and recognition from the city based on the total number of runs you complete.
