GREENSBORO — Former Carson and Catawba College offensive lineman Christopher “CJ” Cain is the offensive line coach and running game coordinator at Barton College now, but he’s also still knocking a few heads in the spring.
Cain, who is 6-foot-4, 335 pounds now, is a veteran of the arena leagues. He has played for the Carolina Energy in the American Arena League, and for the last two seasons, he’s been with the Greensboro-based Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League.
Cain recently was named Big Man of the Year award for the 2024 season by the Cobras. An ironman, Cain played multiple positions on the offensive line and also played a lot of snaps on the defensive line.
Cain played football at Catawba from 2013-17 and earned a degree in sports management.
He coached in the high school ranks before getting into college coaching in 2021 as the offensive line coach and equipment coordinator at Quincy University.
He was offensive line coach and director of football operations for Stonehill College in Massachusetts before he was hired at Barton by former Catawba head coach Chip Hester.
