ROCKWELL — Lyerly Evangelical Church will celebrate 133 years of ministry at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

Dr. Allen Tyndall, executive director of PastorCare, will preach. Tyndall pastored several Rowan County churches and now resides in Little River, South Carolina. PastorCare ministers to pastors in crisis, including spiritual, physical, emotional and relational situations.

Lyerly Evangelical Church was chartered in 1891 by the late Dr. J.M.L. Lyerly, who also founded Crescent Academy and Business College in 1896, and Nazareth Orphans Home in 1906. All three of these entities were located within a half mile of each other in the eastern Rowan community of Crescent.

Visitors are invited. Dr. W.C. Gaither Jr., is pastor of Lyerly Evangelical Church.
