OAKBORO — Kaiden Cruz had a touchdown catch and Abel Brown had a TD run in Carson’s 14-7 win at West Stanly on Thursday.

Sedrick Wallace, Gavin Witt and Erickson Trail had big games for the Cougars (1-1).

Landon Stirewalt had a 70-yard touchdown run called back.

NORWOOD — South Rowan’s jayvee football team won its opening game, 28-2, at South Stanly on Thursday.

Houston Polston and Jeremy Gibson had TD runs. Gibson and Zane Beaston ran for 2-point conversions.

Brooks Hunter threw a touchdown pass to Kaiden Fisher.

Korbin Childers had a pick-six.

NEW LONDON — East Rowan lost 35-6 to North Stanly on Thursday.

The Mustangs (1-1) scored on a 17-yard pass from Julian Cauble to Jason Bonds.

MOUNT ULLA — Davie outscored West Rowan 40-26 in JV action on Thursday, although the Falcons improved a lot from their opening game.

Jalen Moten had two scoring runs for West (0-2), including a 95-yard dash.

Jaylen Donaldson caught a TD pass.

Aiden Sechler had an interception for West, while Ryan Alexander recovered a fumble.

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown’s jayvees rolled 33-6 against Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday.

AJ Settles scored three touchdowns for the Wonders (2-0), two rushing and one on an interception.

Ashton Chavis had a rushing TD. Kavion Hallman scored on a fumble recovery.

WALKERTOWN — Salisbury’s jayvees turned in a strong defensive effort and won 16-6 at Walkertown on Thursday.

Kiyren Brown had a pick-six for the Hornets (1-1), who improved greatly from their first outing.

Isaiah Davidson ran for a TD and two 2-point conversions and made six tackles.

Abe Allen and Bryson Pastrana had sacks.

Jiare Tillman scored the touchdown for the Cavaliers (0-2).

Zane Smith stood out on defense.
