KANNAPOLIS — The Community BRIDGE Project of Kannapolis is hosting the first BRIDGE United in Worship service at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. The church is located at 6740 Macedonia Church Road, Concord.
The worship service will consist of special music from various church choirs and praise teams, testimonies, Scripture readings about unity, prayers for revival and spiritual awakening and conclude with a mass choir from all the churches. Kannapolis Mayor Darrell Hinnant will bring greetings during the service. Also a love offering will be collected for Habitat for Humanity.
The Community BRIDGE Project was begun by a group of area ministers, lay leaders and city of Kannapolis representatives for the purpose of building positive and healthy relationships among diverse groups within the Kannapolis community. The group began meeting after they observed the civil unrest occurring in areas around the United States, stemming from the death of George Floyd.
Their vision statement is “Building Relationships with Intentional Dialogue, Grace and Empathy (BRIDGE). The worship service is part of their mission to build a more united community.
The participating churches with their music groups, from a variety of races, languages, denominations and worship styles, include Camino Church, Faith Fellowship Church of God, Journey Church of Kannapolis, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and River Rock at Odell Baptist Church. The dozen pastors and church leaders from the Community BRIDGE Project will take part in the service as well.
