High school girls tennis roundup: West, South win on Wednesday

GRANITE QUARRY — West Rowan’s girls tennis team is having another strong season.
The Falcons (6-2, 5-2) are in fourth place in the South Piedmont Conference. Lake Norman Charter, Northwest Cabarrus and Concord have strong teams.
West completed a season sweep of East Rowan with a 9-0 win on Wednesday.
West used its standard lineup, with Autumn Yount, Emma Crider, Lucy Moore, Olyvia Brown, Ally Suggs and Laney Moore winning singles matches.
Yount/Crider, Brown/Suggs and the Moores were winning doubles teams.

LANDIS — South Rowan is right behind the Falcons in the SPC standings and got its fourth league win on Wednesday by beating Carson 7-2.
Sophie Lipe was involved in both Carson wins. She won a close match at No. 3 singles and won along with Caylee Sheets at No. 2 doubles.
The Raiders have swept Carson.

CONCORD — Salisbury lost for the first time on Wednesday, dropping an 8-1 decision at 4A Cox Mill.
A lot of the matches were close, but the Hornets’ only win came at No. 1 doubles where Lucy Barr and Meredith Williams prevailed.
