According to the National Hurricane Center’s 10 am Monday advisory, the Category 1 hurricane Hone has weakened into a tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Hone is 240 miles west-southwest of Honolulu Hawaii and 205 miles south-southwest of Lihue Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 65 mph. It’s moving 13 mph to the west.

“… Hone will continue moving away from the main Hawaiian Islands, and pass well north of Johnston Island Tuesday night.” forecasters explained. “Gradual weakening is expected to continue for the next few days.”

YESTERDAY (Sunday):

Yesterday, Hone became a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 mph after intensifying from a tropical storm.

Forecasters announced a tropical storm warning for the big Island.
