MOCKSVILLE — Erwin Middle School will have another strong golf team this season.

Shane Benfield coaches the Eagles, who have a five-man team.

The matches are played against Davie, as well as Rowan schools.

South Davie, North Davie, Ellis, China Grove and Faith Charter have been opponents in the early matches.

The Eagles won their first two matches at Colin Creek in Mocksville.

Erwin shot 158 (top four scores) in the opening match.

Medalist Cam Honeycutt shot 33. Lane Powers shot 40, with Holden Frick at 41 and Tatum Benfield shooting 44.

In the second match, Erwin shot 154.

Honeycutt and Powers shot 36s. Frick shot 40, while Benfield shot 42.

Hunter Ebersold is the other member of the Erwin team. He has shot 44 and 46.
