Aaron Rousey earns Eagle Award
Aaron Mitchel Rousey, 15, of China Grove, received his Eagle Scout award on April 15, 2012, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church. The award was presented by Scoutmaster Chris Puckett of Troop No. 87, which is sponsored by Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
Aaron joined scouting in 2003 as a first-grader with Cub Scout Pack 307, where he achieved his Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos levels and earned the highest award in Cub Scouting, the Arrow of Light. He also earned the God and Me and God and Family awards.
Since joining Troop 87, Aaron has earned 29 merit badges. As a Boy Scout, Aaron has held the positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Den Chief and Troop Guide. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow. During summer 2013, Aaron will attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.
Aaron’s Eagle Scout Project consisted of building a memorial garden at First United Methodist Church in China Grove. Aaron removed the old bushes, prepared the ground and planted rose bushes. A stone walk was created with a bench at the end of the garden and mulch was added. He has received many compliments from the members of the church.
The son of Mitch and Laura Rousey of China Grove, Aaron is a ninth-grader at South Rowan High School, where he is a member of the Raider Regiment Marching Band and South Rowan Golf Team. He is a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
