SALISBURY — The Rowan County Board of Commissioners have a short regular agenda for its upcoming meeting, having only one item on the schedule.
The only item on the regular agenda, which contains the items that will be discussed at the meeting, is the presentation of financial reports by Finance Director Anna Bumgarner. The reports are received monthly by the commissioners and showcase information such as the county’s cumulative expenditures and revenues, sales tax revenues and property tax revenues.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday and will be held at the Rowan County Administration building located at 130 W. Innes St. in Salisbury.
There is a 22-item consent agenda, which is a way for the commissioners to group together items that are viewed as non-controversial, and so do not require any discussion before the commissioners vote on them. Items on the consent agenda include:
- The approval of a memorandum of agreement between the sheriff’s office and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to provide part-time officers for security as needed on the north campus. The college would reimburse the sheriff’s office for the officers’ salaries. There are also memorandums extending the agreement between the sheriff’s office and both Rowan-Salisbury School System and Faith Academy Charter School for school resource officers.
- Updating the Parks Rules and Regulations ordinance to add rules against the use of gas-powered generators or inverters and against balloon releases. Generators or inverters would still be allowed with permission for special events, but balloon releases would be disallowed under all circumstances.
- Approval of a grant agreement for $106,447 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand and enhance training for EMS professionals in Rowan County on mental health and substance-use disorders, trauma-informed, recovery-based care practices by procuring Buprenorphine and training EMS personnel.
- A request to remove “The entity has been party to vexatious or frivolous litigation, including, without limitation, administrative litigation, against the county” from “possible grounds for rejecting application” portion of the airport’s rules and regulations.
