The Jubilee Community Choir of N.C. will present a vesper service of “Faith, Hope and Unity” on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church located at 306 N. Church St. in Salisbury.
The choir will present selections that deliver the messages of faith expressed in hymns such as “O Master Let Me Walk With Thee,” spirituals such as “Keep Your Lamps,” and contemporary music such as “Koinonia.”
Songs of hope will include the hymn “My Hope is Built,” the spiritual “I Dream a World” and the contemporary “Stand By Me.”
Songs of unity will include “We Are Strong” and “We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace.”
The soloists are Teresa Moore-Mitchell, a soprano, who will sing “Stand By Me,” a spiritual song written by Charles A. Tindley, a noted Black hymn writer and arranged by Jewell Taylor Thompson; and Eugene Nunn, tenor, who will sing “Ain’t Got Time To Die,” a spiritual song composed by Hall Johnson.
The music for this vesper service will speak to the times in which we now live. These musical messages will speak to each of the audience in various ways, but each song has that purpose, listen and hear.
The entire community is invited to come and experience these messages in song. Bring your family, your friends and a generous free-will offering.
