High school football: East, West, Hornets win JV games

GRANITE QUARRY — East Rowan’s jayvee football team won 12-0 against Concord on Thursday.

East’s defense forced three turnovers.

Jaxon Lyons had a 17-yard rushing TD for the Mustangs (3-1). Julian Cauble threw a 38-yard TD pass to Jason Bonds.

CHINA GROVE — West Rowan’s jayvee got their first win on Thursday, beating Carson 29-7.

Jalen Moten, Carlos Phillips, Devauhn White and Landon Ryerson scored TDs for the Falcons (1-3). Tight end John Walters had a great night blocking.

Leading the defensive charge were Malakhi “Baby Bird” Sherrill, Kaden Weeks, Bryson Ellis, Evan Paustian, Drew Taylor and Haley McCullough.

Colin Masingo scored for Carson (2-2) on the ground.

SALISBURY — Salisbury’s defense dominated in a 28-2  win against Thomasville on Thursday.

Jordan Washington threw two touchdown passes to Isiah Foxx for the Hornets (3-1).

Isaiah Davidson had a rushing TD and a 2-point conversion. Kiyren Brown had a rushing TD.

Justen Eldridge had two interceptions, while Foxx had one.

Grant Hill made a tackle for a safety.

Daniel Hensley forced a fumble. Darrius Graham-Taylor recovered a fumble.

Brycen Pastrana had a sack.

LANDIS — South Rowan lost 53-24 to Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday.

The Raiders (1-2) got over 100 receiving yards from Jack Garmon.

Brooks Harrison threw TD passes to Garmon and Jeb Ritchie.

Brooks Hunter threw a TD pass to Kaiden Fisher.

Kole Kinley went 45 yards to score on special teams when Northwest Cabarrus (3-1) fumbled on a punt return.

North Rowan didn’t play on Thursday, as South Davidson doesn’t have a jayvee team this year.

A.L. Brown (4-0) beat Hickory Ridge 34-15.
