High school tennis roundup: Hornets, Falcons win again

DENTON — Salisbury won 9-0 at South Davidson in Central Carolina Conference girls tennis played on Wednesday.

Lucy Barr, Meredith Williams, Anna Griffith, Lola Koontz, Anna Kate Goodman and Gabriella Fatovic again won in singles for coach Milton Griffith’s Hornets (8-1, 7-0).

Barr/Williams had the toughest match at No. 1 doubles, but they were able to win 8-5 against Anna Smith/Kaylyn Lemons.

Griffith/Koontz and Goodman/Fatovic breezed to doubles wins.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan won 8-1 against Carson in Wednesday’s South Piedmont Conference match.

Autumn Yount, Emma Crider, Olyvia Brown, Lucy Moore and Ally Suggs won singles matches for West (9-3, 7-3).

Yount/Crider won in doubles. West won by walkover at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Carson’s win was by Sophie Lipe/Caylee Sheets at No. 2 doubles.
