Open house Tuesday will show Research Campus efforts

KANNAPOLIS — The N.C. Research Campus plans an open house Tuesday to showcase clinical research.
The State of the Studies will run from 2 to 7 p.m. in the atrium of the David H. Murdock Core Laboratory building.
Duke Translational Research Institute, the MURDOCK Study and Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast will host the event.
Duke University is conducting a long-term medical research study based in Kannapolis, named for campus founder and Dole Food Co. chairman David Murdock.
Visitors will be able to speak with representatives of the companies and institutions on campus. Panel discussions at 3 and 6 p.m. will feature scientists from the Appalachian State University Human Performance Laboratory and UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute.
Also participating are physicians and nurses with the MURDOCK Study, which has several research efforts under its umbrella, including studies of the genetics behind longevity, severe acne, multiple sclerosis and more.
