High school cross country: Rowan runners compete at Hare & Hounds

CHARLOTTE — A number of local runners competed in the Hare & Hounds Cross Country Invitational  held at McAlpine on Saturday.

Carson senior Jorge Clemente Garcia and junior Eric Gillis competed in the Championship 5K race.

Clemente Garcia was eighth in 15:45, while Gillis placed 15th in 16:05.

East Rowan competed in the girls 5K Championship race.

Sadie Featherstone was top runner for the Mustangs in 22:45.

Carson girls competed in the 5K Invitational race.

Kara Crotts was 69th in 22:21, while Emily Landaverde ran 22:26 for 71st.

Carson’s Chance Simmons was 87th in the boys 5K Invitational race. He ran 18:30.

West Rowan’s boys placed 12th in the team scoring in the Invitational race.

Luke Henson was 38th in 17:36. Jonathan Medina was 41st in 17:40.

In the 5K Open race, A.L. Brown’s girls were 10th in the team scoring.

Lisbeth Navarrete Guevara led the Wonders. She ran 24.35 for 46th.

West Rowan’s Katie Roberts was 43rd in 24:29.
