CARY — South Rowan freshman Hope Julian ran 19:24 and won Saturday’s girls 5K Challenge race in the adidas Cross County Challenge.

South’s girls were 11th in the team scoring.

Gracie Hinson was 38th in 22:41. Madalynn Gulledge was 56th in 23:03.

Ruby Reta and Railyn Wright were the other scorers for South. Brinley Patterson and Sadie Siscoe also competed.

South Rowan’s boys competed in the 5K Invitational race.

Ethan Overby ran 17:12 and was 60th. Davis Kemp and Keaton Sloop ran 18:31. Sam Noe clocked 18:44, and Peyton Nail finished at 19:03.

Conner Overcash and and Andrew Crouse also competed in the meet.
